Aspiration smoke detector ASD
 

The highly sensitive aspiration smoke detector ASD is used whenever it is necessary to detect even minimal, barely perceivable smoke aerosols. RAS stands for the German "Rauch-Ansaug-System"; its English equivalent is ASD, for "Aspiration Smoke Detector". This proven and VdS approved system is used for monitoring buildings and premises such as:

Radio and TV broadcast installations
Display windows
Telecommunication centres
Laboratory and research centres
High-bay warehouses and distribution centres
Electronic test laboratories

Railway carriages
Museums, galleries, theatres and cinemas

An aspiration smoke detector consists essentially of two parts: the randomly connectable sampling pipe with individual small sampling holes, and the detection chamber. The chamber contains one or two sensitive smoke detectors, a fan and the electronic evaluating circuit. The fan aspirates the ambient air into the detection chamber via the sampling points and feeds it to the smoke detector. Smoke particles are immediately detected. If the limit value is exceeded, a fire alarm control panel is automatically actuated. For high sensitive applications the particle counting principle using a laser beam is used instead of the smoke detector.

ASD systems do not wait for the smoke to rise; instead they actively draw it in; this means they respond much more quickly and sensitively to any fires that occur than conventional solutions. Another advantage is that the sampling pipes can be invisibly mounted in small hollow floors and dropped ceilings without affecting the overall aesthetics of the premises.

Beammaster 5

Beammaster 5 is a state-of-the-art linear beam fire detection system comprising a transmitter, receiver and an optional keypad. The Active Infrared system can fully protect an area of up to 1400 m2 at the maximum specified range of 100m between the transmitter and receiver. BM5 offers the highest quality fire detection.

Beammaster 5 has been designed to be reliable and easy to install. Thumbwheels allow vertical and horizontal alignment and, when in alignment mode, the target LED on the receiver will highlight when the strongest signal is being received from the transmitter.

A push button is provided within the unit to activate automatic adjustment of the signal to the correct operation level.

A LCD keypad is available to assist the installation engineer or can be installed as a permanent feature for low level maintenance. Upon installation, settings can be programmed that adjust smoke and heat thresholds to suit the environment. A soak mode is available where 24 readings taken over a 60-minutes period are stored in the memory and can be accessed through the LCD keypad. Access to this information is protected by either a PIN or Electronic Key.

Beammaster 5 reacts to both heat and smoke elements of a fire. This means that smokeless fires such as burning alcohol, which standard smoke sensors/systems could ignore, will be detected.

The Minibeam is a reflection optical beam smoke detector suitable for all installation where low aesthetic impact and wide coverage pattern are required. Tx & Rx are housed within the same plastic box, reducing the length of cable required for wiring and easy to install. Maintenance is extremely reduced due to the absence of lenses.

Minibeam V has a maximum beam length of 40 m which allows a covered area of 600 m2 with a very high reliability along the time.

Transmitter and Receiver are housed within the same plastic box. To the opposite side a reflector send the IR beam back to the receiver.

The ideal installation height is between 0.3 and 0.6 m from the ceiling. Beam emission must be parallel to the ceiling (flat ceiling).

When smoke is present, the infrared beam signal is reduced proportionally to the smoke density crossing the beam. The alarm indication will be generated according to the signal attenuation analysis or beam obscuration.

Laser Aspiration Smoke Detector

The new aspiration smoke detection system is a new generation of consistently developed very early fire detection. Here, it has been possible to combine laser technology with the proven digital particle countingprinciple. It ensures that only particles which pass through the focused laser beam and are in a typical size range for incipient fires are evaluated.
